I really want to stop smoking before it takes a toll on me in any way. I hate the smell of cigarettes on my clothes and the transfer from my sheets to my bedding. We don’t smoke in our home except the bathroom. The main problem is I’ve tried to quit before (I smoke half a pack a day) but my DH smokes two packs a day and when he smokes when he gets home it makes it hard for me to quit. What do I do and/or what’s the best way to quit?

Some easy way is to use whenever willing to smoke means chewwing gum, and tablet is available it gives the effect of smoking. Take herbal anti smoking products. When mind is ask to smoke take small pencil and imagine that it is cigarrete and smoke it. Definitely you will stop the smoking habit. ok all the best try these tips now itself my dear friend.

I tried to stop smoking over and over again before finally finding a method to quit smoking that actually worked long term.
The best way to stop smoking is to completely change your location for one week. This can be timed to go along with a vacation or you can specifically plan to be out of town or away from home for a week in order to stop smoking. The change of scenery and routine completely changes your cravings, which are largely habit based. Without your same daily routine, your craving for cigarettes will be interrupted.

You must get through the first day. You will probably not feel the craving for cigarettes the first day because of the upheaval of your routine. To help this along, try to make your routine for the week as different from your normal day as possible. Get up at a completely different time, eat your meals at different times than you normally would and change your bedtime for he week.

Stay busy all day and the third day will soon be over.

After a week away, the nicotine will be out of your system and you will feel better than you have in a long time. Going home again can be stressful because you may fear that you will fall into your own patterns, In order to keep this from happening, make a new routine at home to keep you from craving a cigarette. This can mean changing which rooms you spend time in or taking a walk after dinner instead of lighting up. With a new routine, you won’t miss smoking as much. The air will smell sweeter and your food will taste better.

I had a baby in October 2008. I didn’t smoke while pregnant. I have found myself smoking 1-5 cigarettes a day and can’t seem to quit..Any tips for quitting completely?

That first responder was obviously high while writing his response….

Anyways, what helped or worked for me was smoking cheaper smokes that taste real bad. I could only handle to light it and then put it out. Averaging about 1-2 smokes per day. It was a re-light festival until I finally decided I just didn’t want it anymore. That was after 24 years of smoking and a whole lot more per day than you too so you may see quicker results. A whole lot of it is mind set too. Good Luck

I’ve never felt so weak in my entire life. I want to quit smoking so badly but every time I try I only find myself obsessing on wanting a cigarette. My roommates smoke, my friends smoke and it seems like we all want to quit but end up caving for one reason or another. Does anyone have any advice that could help me?

I understand your pain. Its all about standing up for yourself. Like high schoolers, its like giving in to peer pressure, but on yourself.

I have been addicted to many things and cigarettes were the worst. If you’re a cold-turkey kind of person, try that and see how it goes. If not, bum when you are drinking alcohol ONLY (social smoker) and limit yourself to only 1 or 2 per social-smoking nites.

Here is how I did it:
    1. Do NOT buy a pack of smokes. If you have them, you will smoke them. Bumming from friends and strangers constantly gets old quickly and they will eventually be annoyed.

    2. Don’t even think about it. The more you think about it, the more you want one. When you think of smoking one, think about how your throat feels right then, think about gross crap like mucus and phlegm and tar… ew.

    3. My boyfriend helped. He quit smoking and stayed strong while the rest of us continued. Every time I would smoke he would be very, very, very upset. He is worth more to me than smoking cigarettes.

    4. Buy lots of gum.

    5. When you quit, realize that it will take a long, long, long time to not want one… but even then, even my 80 year old grandmother still has dreams about wanting cigarettes and she quit 20 years ago.

    6. When you do quit, you will feel ill, you will feel tired and down and cranky and pissed off and crazy. This will pass. Do not give in!

    7. This next one is entirely dependent on your personality…. if you like the social habit part of things, partake in the social habit part. If it is too difficult for you to stay social without wanting to bum, then don’t partake. You may lose friends over it, but what kind of friends are those?

    8. Sooner or later you won’t feel like the only one not smoking… my group of friends quit one by one… and the last one standing outside smoking felt very alone.

You can do it! You can do anything…. trust yourself.

I’m thinking about quitting smoking. I know I want to quit within the next 2 years. The only thing is that I really enjoy smoking. I smoke roughly 15 a day. I would like to know how to quit without using the patch or gum. I can’t quit all at once but would like to ease into it by smoking less and less. So what I really need to know also is…

How do you make yourself smoke less?

  14. galbert67 says:

Get a jar with a lid, put some water in it, add cigarette buts, seal jar. When want to smoke, unseal and inhale the aroma from said jar.

So I’ve been smoking cigarettes for 4 years (18-22) I want to be committed to become a nonsmoker and get healthy for myself and saving money too. It shouldn’t be that hard to quit after few years of smoking right? What can I do to ignore the cravings? And everyone in my family smokes so yeah. Anyone expericene quitting smoking for good?

  16. admin says:

First of all, it is that hard as it is a chemical addiction. The difficulty you are having is not a weakness of your will–you are strong to want to quit. I finally quit after many years of smoking (15) and only was able to quit after a loooooong period of cutting down from a pack a day to about 2 packs a week. I smoked like that for 3 years, then used lozenges for 3 weeks exclusively before finally quitting. I was under a lot of stress (grad school, fatherhood and work) so I think that the period of quitting could obviously be shortened for someone of your age.
The most important thing is to modify your behavior–smoking addiction is situational as well as chemical–eliminate smoking from one situation in your life at a time (first thing upon waking, after breakfast, between classes, after dinner, you know what I mean). Also, someone who is healthy doesn’t feel the negative effects of smoking for a long time, so doesn’t have that impetus to quit that older people have (shortness of breath, difficulty climbing stairs) so you should do some rigorous exercise to discourage smoking–run 3 miles a day, use the stairs, etc, to make yourself feel that smoking is having consequences on your health, even this early.
    Good luck

I started smoking for a little less than a year, and I smoke a pack of 20 over a 4 days period, sometimes a week. I want to quit but I start smoking once I get bored. What is the best way to get over these cravings and avoid going back to smoking.

  18. admin says:

the craving for a cigarette is only an illusion and once you smoked your very first cigarette you created a little nicotine monster inside of you and everytime you “crave” a cigarette, it’s really the nicotine monster that wants it’s fix so you give in and light a cigarette. You dont enjoy it and dont know why you smoke and when you think a cigarette makes you feel better, helps you concentrate more, relieves boredom and relaxes you then you are wrong. Smoking causes all of this and that’s the illusion!
Giving up using the methods “cold turkey” and “Will Power” are the completely wrong ways to go about it as you will feel deprived for the rest of your life.
You have to think to yourself “I am not giving up anything”
You are not making a sacrifice as cigarettes do absolutely nothing for you and when you feed that little monster its nicotine you dont feel any better do you?
It’s all about you being in control and turning against the cigarette and saying to yourself “I will not be a slave anymore and I dont care how much this monster wants its fix I will starve it to death and be free.
Do not use nicotine gum, patches etc as this will only prolong the life of the monster and you will without doubt be back a smoker.
When you decide to have your final cigarette, after a while you will feel withdrawals, the nicotine rapidly leaves your body and you will obviously feel like you want a smoke, but instead of thinking “I want a smoke” think more like “I am a non smoker yay!!!
I was a smoker of 20 a day for 14 years and gave up reading the Allen Carr book, his method as absolutely unique I promise!
